“When you have gathered in the fruit of the land you shall keep the feast of the Lord for seven days … You shall dwell in booths … that your generations may know that I made the children of Israel dwell in booths when I brought them out of the land of Egypt … ” Leviticus 23:39, 42 – 43

  1. Feast of the Tabernacles or Booths (Succot)  Begins on Weds evening 4th October. A rapidly growing number of Christians have been going to Jerusalem to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles since 1980 and several thousand will be there for this year’s celebration.
Praise the Lord for the celebration of this biblical Feast and pray for peace and safety of all visitors. Pray for Jewish hearts to be turned toward God and His Word at this time.
  2. Aliyah For the second year the UN recognised Yom Kippur (last Saturday 30th September). At the end of Yom Kippur the Jews in exile say “Next year in Jerusalem.”
Pray the Lord would gather all His people home and they would not be afraid to go. Pray for those who have recently immigrated to settle happily and prosper.
  3. Arabs favour Israel A survey has found that 60% of Israeli Arabs view Israel positively and the majority identify as Israeli.
Pray that more Arabs will join them and they will be bold to speak favourably about Israel.
  4. The Peace Process The US realises that a two-state solution may not be possible and are no longer committed to it. The PA threatens to take unilateral action to achieve statehood if the US does not cooperate.
Pray for the US to stand firm and for PA plans to be thwarted.
  5. Terrorism continues A Border Police officer and two security guards, all in their 20s, were killed by a Palestinian terrorist near Jerusalem and a security coordinator was seriously wounded. Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) and the Israel Police arrested three Israeli Arabs planning a terror attack on the Temple Mount.
Pray for the IDF and the government to receive divine wisdom and strategies to deal with and prevent internal terrorism.
  6. The disabled people of Israel have been protesting at low levels of assistance. Many are ill-equipped to work and many who are employable are the least likely to be accepted for jobs.
Pray they will receive what they need to live their lives independently and with dignity.
  7. Truth spoken at the UN Praise the Lord for the bold and clear statement made by Mosab Hassan Yousef who stunned Palestinian representatives at the UN with his defence of Israel and condemnation of the PA.
  8. EU’s anti-Israel stance Last month, EU ministers decided to keep the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) on their list of designated terrorist organisations, as it has done for the past fifteen years. This week the European Parliament welcomed Leila Khaled, famous for being “the first female hijacker” and a convicted Palestinian terrorist and a prominent member of the above mentioned terror group PFLP.
Pray for a counter action to this.
  9. British Labour Party Jeremy Corbyn’s anti-Israel stance was evident at the recent Conference . Warren Morgan, leader of Brighton and Hove City Council warned that if the Party cannot provide assurances that it will stamp down on anti-semitism, it will not be welcome at the council-owned Brighton Centre, where the annual conference was held.
Pray that pro-Israel members of the Party will be heard and will be effective in countering this. Pray that Jeremy Corbyn will turn from his anti-Israel attitude. Pray for anti-semitism in the Party to be addressed and pray for Warren Morgan who is suffering backlash for his stance.
  10. Interpol (International Police Organisation) has voted by “secret ballot” to admit the “State of Palestine” as a full member. One concern is that the PA will now have access to confidential information on terrorism issues.
Pray that this will not put Israel’s security at risk and that their role in the organisation will be reviewed.
  11. Iran threat continues with more missile testing and coordinates on nuclear development and technology with North Korea. The UK and France have expressed concern and the US may re-impose sanctions and cancel the 2015 nuclear deal. PM Netanyahu has warned Iran that Israel will not allow them to set up military bases in Syria.
Pray for protection for Israel against all that Iran and her allies would try to do and pray for an end to the deal.

Notes on Israel Prayer Points for September 2017

Feast of Tabernacles It is a memorial of when GOD dwelt with His people in the wilderness and a celebration of the harvest gathered in. For Christians it is a prophetic anticipation of Jesus’ return to Jerusalem for His 1000 year reign. This is a clear sign that we are living in the End Times as Isaiah saw the nations flowing up to the mountain of the LORD in the latter days (Isaiah 2:2).

Truth spoken at the UN Mosab Hassan Yousef, the son of Hamas founder Sheikh Hassan Yousef, stunned the Palestinian delegation to the UN Human Rights Council when he called out the Palestinian Authority’s human rights abuses of their own people. The PA delegation reacted with shock as Hassan calls the PA the “greatest enemy of the Palestinian people,” in a video posted by UN Watch. “If Israel did not exist, you would have no one to blame,” he declared.

Yousef on the Islamic problem: “We can fool ourselves but there is an Islamic problem,” mentioning terrorist groups such as Hamas, Hezbollah and ISIS. “All of them are killing in the name of Allah,” he said, adding that other religions do not act in such ways. “Humanity needs to stand against this danger. Islam is a belief system and the world should unify against it just as it did against Nazism. The Jewish people were able to overcome the Holocaust and instead of playing the victim card, built a democratic state, which sets a great example,” concluded Yousef. “I came from hell,” and “I love what Israel stands for.”

Arabs in Israel 63% of Arab citizens said Israel is a “positive” place to live, with 34% saying it is negative, while respondents also gave high marks to the country for having a “strong” degree of personal freedom and a “strong” amount of stability.

Iran tested a new ballistic missile that is capable of carrying multiple warheads, President Rouhani said Tehran would press ahead with strengthening its missile capabilities and military defences, despite USA pressure to stop. The USA has imposed unilateral sanctions on Iran, saying its missile tests violate a UN resolution. Britain voiced concerns about the latest test. “Extremely concerned by reports of Iran missile test, which is inconsistent with UN resolution 2231. Call on Iran to halt provocative acts,” Boris Johnson wrote on Twitter. Likewise, France said on 23 Sept. 2017, it was extremely concerned by Iran’s ballistic missile test and called on UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to carry out a full report on the launch.

The test comes just weeks before President Trump is due to update Congress on whether Iran is in compliance with the nuclear deal it signed with world powers in 2015. Should Trump say that Iran is not in compliance with the deal; Congress would have 60 days to decide whether to re-impose sanctions waived under the deal. The President has long been a vocal critic of the Iranian nuclear deal, and he repeated his criticism of the deal in his speech at the UN General Assembly this past week. Trump called the deal “an embarrassment” to the USA and “one of worst and most one-sided transactions the United States has ever entered into.” Speaking to reporters last week Trump said he has reached a decision on whether to recertify Iran’s compliance with the 2015 nuclear deal, but would not reveal that decision. The deadline to make the announcement is 15 Oct. 2017.

“The world’s silence vis-a-vis the Iranians is reminiscent of the world’s silence in the face of North Korea’s nuclear bullying, which led to a situation in which they now have nuclear weapons that they can use at any moment. It is an existential and tangible danger to the Jewish people no less than the Holocaust. The only difference between World War II and today is that, now, we have the ability to prevent it. “Therefore, it is Israel’s duty to inform the entire world, and the Iranians in particular, that a state that calls for the destruction of the State of Israel and is acting accordingly will be answered accordingly. It must be clearly stated that any offensive Iranian action against Israel will be met with the destruction of Tehran, and that is what must be done.” Quote from PM Netanyahu
