For the Lord has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His dwelling place:

“This is my resting place forever; here I will dwell for I have desired it. I will abundantly bless her provision; I will satisfy her poor with bread. I will also clothe her priests with salvation and her saints shall shout aloud for joy. There I will make the horn of David grow; I will prepare a lamp for My Anointed. His enemies I will clothe with shame but upon Himself His crown shall flourish”. Psalm 132:13-18

This year 2017 – 100th anniversary of Balfour Declaration, 50 years since 1967 Six Day war when Jerusalem was won – senses to be a critical year for Israel’s position among the nations and also their position before God on account of how they treat His chosen people. Hostility toward Israel is increasing with UN resolutions, border threats, anti-semitism, boycotts, but God is in it all. Those things prophesied in scripture must come to pass.

  1. Praise – for abundant rain.
Galilee has risen 12cms, however it remains over 71cms below its healthy minimum level. Pray for more rain – both physical and spiritual.
  2. Praise for internet evangelism (One for Israel)
Reaching millions with testimonies in both English and Hebrew. Only ⅓ of 1% of Jews in Israel are believers so far. Pray for continued effective evangelism.
  3. Praise for orthodox understanding
with the response of Israel’s Sephardic chief rabbi, Yitzhak Yosef to the USA’s abstention at the UN.“Sometimes, we need to be reminded from above that we can count on no one but our Father who art in heaven,” Yosef told a gathering at the Western Wall.
“We mustn’t forget that the hearts of kings and captains are in the hands of the Lord, and we can count on no one but (the Lord)”.
Pray for continued wisdom and revelation among the Jewish orthodox community.
  4. Thank God for bold pro-Israel journalists and politicians.
Melanie Phillips a leading UK journalist wrote an open letter to PM May accusing our government of anti-Semitism after Britain voted for the UN anti-Israel resolution. The Times published an article by Michael Gove on anti-semitism and others. Dutch MP Geert Wilders is vocally supportive of Israel. Pray for their protection, favour and blessing.
  5. Praise for those making Aliyah.
God is stirring even secular Jews from the nations;-“My heart has constantly had a stirring and pull to be in the land with … other Jewish people. … we decided 7 years ago we were going to work towards this goal … Although we do not have a large sum of money, we are resolute in our stand to be planted in Israel.” (Amos 9:15)
This is God at work to fulfil His word. In Ezekiel He says first He will bring them to the Land and then He will pour out His Spirit upon them (Ezek 36:24-28).
Pray for more Jews to be motivated to go and live in Israel, for awakening to Jewish roots and culture, for desire to be in the land and with their people.
  6. Nations against Israel Psalm 2
“Why do the nations rage…”  The UN’s astounding anti-Israel bias is fulfilment of prophecy.
To this day, 47 resolutions concerning the Israeli-Palestinian conflict have been adopted by the UN Security Council. They become more outrageous and unreasonable by the hour. The UN is controlled by Arab (oil producing, Muslim) nations. Israel has become a pawn or a scapegoat in the Arab/Western conflict. Their stance is disproportionate and can only be accounted for in spiritual terms. The rage against Israel is increasing and will continue to do so until there is an Almighty showdown. Then we shall see God’s judgment. The latest anti-Israel resolution by the UN Security Council of 15 members passed on 24 December officially declared Israel to be the illegal occupiers of East Jerusalem and much of Judea and Samaria and so condemning all settlement activity and de-legitimising Jewish claims to Jerusalem’s Old City. The difference with this one was that the US did not veto it and actually engineered it. New Zealand along with Malaysia, Venezuela, Senegal and the Ukraine pushed it through. No coincidence that three large earthquakes hit NZ just weeks before. Obama had to deliver a final blow. In light of this the “true colours” of world leaders are being exposed. Judgment will fall on those nations who oppose Israel according to scripture.
Pray for the nations – that some will realise their mistake and repent and that others will dare to support Israel no matter what the cost.
Although the resolution is non-binding on Israel, it has done serious political harm and makes it easier for anti-Israel groups to apply boycotts and other financial restrictions upon Israel, thereby jeopardising the economy. Palestinian groups see it as approval for their violent struggle against those Jews who dare defy the international community by settling in their biblical heartland. Indeed they have thanked the UN for it. It will embolden them to stir up more trouble. It was a trigger, intentional or not, for renewed bloodshed. Netanyahu has taken a strong stand, calling back ambassadors, cutting off aid to Senegal and withdrawing sponsorship from five UN institutions.
Pray for PM Netanyahu and his government to have wisdom and stand strong against local and international pressure to cease building new homes anywhere in the Promised Land, and that no Jews will be forcibly removed.
Pray also for a better relationship between Israel and the USA with the new US President Trump.
  7. Allegations of corruption against Netanyahu
The PM is being investigated by Israeli police for allegedly accepting “improper gifts” worth thousands of dollars from businessmen. He has continually and strongly denied any wrongdoing. Please pray for truth and justice.
  8. US Embassy move to Jerusalem
Three US senators have introduced legislation to push Trump to keep his promise to move America’s embassy to Jerusalem.“It’s time for Congress and the President-Elect to eliminate the loophole that has allowed presidents in both parties to ignore US law and delay our embassy’s rightful relocation to Jerusalem for over two decades.” (Marco Rubio).
Fatah leadership has announced their intention to start a new intifada if Trump keeps his promise. Abbas blames his threat on Israeli “arrogance” and “settlement activity”, claiming both Israel and the USA would “bear responsibility for the return of bloodshed in the Palestinian territories”.
Pray for Trump to keep his promise no matter what the cost and even other nations would follow. It may be that confrontation is part of God’s plan.
  9. More Peace Talks
Seventy nations of the world will gather in Paris on January 15th an attempt to force Israel to accept a two-state solution with the Palestinian Authority. In Torah terms, 70 nations means all of the nations which would be a fulfilment of prophecy that all the nations will come out against Israel, according to the Rabbis. Israel will not be present. This may set the stage for another one-sided UN resolution. However it is unclear how this plan would be practically implemented. On January 20th Trump will become US President and he believes, like Netanyahu, that the only solution is face-to-face negotiations without pre-conditions between the Israelis and Palestinians.  There can be no real peace until the prince of peace returns.  Pray that all human attemps will come to nothing.
  10. Protection of Israeli borders
With its formidable arsenal of missiles trained on Israel, the Lebanon-based terrorist group Hezbollah remains the most serious military threat facing Israel. However the chance of another conflagration with Hamas (Gaza) is higher than that of a war with Hezbollah. Pray for Israel’s northern and southern borders according to Isaiah 60:18.
  11. Building of the 3rd Temple – more prophecy fulfilled
The Israeli Sanhedrin has called for Putin and Trump to support the rebuilding of the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem. It is prophesied that the Temple will be rebuilt (Revelation 11:1, 2; Daniel 9:27) – a clear sign of the End Times.Presently the site is occupied by the Dome of the Rock. As many Muslims want the End Times to arrive they might agree to the building of the Third Temple to accelerate the coming of their Caliphate
Pray for God’s way & timing.
