Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us” 1 Corinthians 5:7

Feast of Passover began last Friday evening and the Feast of Unleavened Bread continues throughout this week until Saturday, 6th April. A sacrificial ceremony took place near the Temple Mount and the building of the 3rd Temple seems to draw closer. Pray that this happy time will not be marred by terrorist attacks. Pray that Jews recalling the exit from Egypt and slavery will experience deeper revelations of the meaning of the Passover lamb and the unleavened bread. Pray for the 3rd Temple to be in God’s will and timing.

Israel 70th birthday According to the Hebrew calendar this will take place on 19th April and according to ours, on 14th May. So in both months there will be many special events, tours, March of the Nations and Conference. Pray protection over the celebration plans, particularly the opening of the US Embassy in Jerusalem on 14th May.

United States The new “Taylor Force Act” cuts hundreds of millions of dollars in US aid to the PA until it stops paying Palestinian terrorists and their families. President Trump has made staff changes to include two pro-Israel officials: Secretary of State – Mike Pompeo and National Security Advisor – John Bolton. These changes signal not only a more severe shift in policy vis-a-vis Iran, but will be a cause for great concern among the PA leadership, which of late has gone out of its way to antagonize Trump. Praise and pray that the USA continues to increase its support of Israel.

Palestinian Protests On Passover eve the six week “March of Return” began with 30,000 Gazans gathering at the border. Tent camps were set up and violent attempts made to breach the barrier and enter southern Israel. Ten of the 16 Palestinians killed were known Hamas terrorist operatives. The US blocked a UN Security Council statement blaming Israel for the deaths. Praise God that the UK joined America in opposing the statement. The BBC gave a full report but some comments were biased against Israel. The Turkish president has been very critical of Israel and PM Netanyahu. Pray for any more violence to be thwarted, the world media to report accurately, the US and UK to continue support for Israel and the UN to acknowledge the truth. A major confrontation is inevitable – pray according to scripture – God will defend His Land and His people and all enemies will be put to shame (Psalm 83)

Arab Christians Before the PA took control about 85% of the population of Bethlehem were Christian citizens, and now they are less than 10% because the Palestinians prevent them from practising their faith. Pray for persecuted Christians in PA and Hamas controlled areas, plus all innocent civilians who are pawns in the scenario.

UK Labour Party anti-semitism This issue has become very public with 39 Labour MPs protesting and joined by around 2,000 members of the Jewish community and other leaders and politicians in London recently. They demand an end to “fake” statements and the start of decisive action against antisemitism in the Labour Party. Pray for truth to be exposed, action to be taken and anti-semitism to be rooted out.

PM Netanyahu We have heard no more about the corruption allegations. Last week he was taken into hospital briefly with illness due to lack of rest. Pray for rest and relief from stress, grace, wisdom and protection.

Israel Defence Force Many extra forces are having to be employed to keep peace and watch over borders in these next few weeks. They are mostly young people and many are girls. Pray for protection, stamina, alertness, responsiveness, intuition, wisdom, success, strategy, courage and victory.

Good news Both Jews and Arabs are coming to faith in Yeshua through the video ministry of One for Israel. The German pharmaceutical company Merck, together with other international companies in the same line of business, plan to launch a fund that will invest 20 million euros ($24.6 million) in Israeli biotechnology over the next five years.

Notes on Israel Prayer Points for April 2018

Passover Last year, the Passover sacrifice was conducted in the courtyard of the nearby Hurva Synagogue in the Jewish Quarter of Jerusalem’s Old City, some 450 yards from the Temple Mount. This year, it took place at the Davidson Center, an archaeological park situated at the southern foot of the sacred plateau, and just below the Al Aqsa Mosque, just tens of meters from where the Second Temple once stood.

Israel’s 70th birthday The March of the Nations plus Conference – May 13-15, 2018. Thousands of Christians from all nations will come to Jerusalem. Together with Israelis from all spheres of society, they will walk from the Knesset to Mt. Zion: They will honour Holocaust survivors, demonstrating publicly that the nations stand side by side with Israel and saying “No!” to anti-Semitism.

United States These changes indicate that Trump is gearing up for a shift in Middle East policies that favours Israel. Following the sacking of Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, Trump also fired his National Security Advisor, H.R. McMaster. Both men were replaced by staunch supporters of the Jewish state, and just as staunch opponents of former President Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran. Tillerson was replaced by former CIA Director Mike Pompeo. And it was announced that the new National Security Advisor will be former US Ambassador to the UN John Bolton. Bolton has made a name for himself as an ultraconservative who thinks Iran should be bombed before it is too late, and who unwaveringly backs Israel in its conflict with regional antagonists. Meanwhile the US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Hayley continues to speak out for Israel and against the PA.

Palestinian Protests While the campaign is being presented to the world as a peaceful enterprise, there is no doubt that this latest Hamas ploy is aimed at igniting a violent confrontation. Israel has the full right to defend its borders, protect its citizens, and prevent illegal infiltration into its territory. Responsibility for any clashes that may arise will lie solely with Hamas and the other Palestinian organizations who have manufactured this entire campaign. Israeli officials described the mass incident as extremely violent in nature, and video footage supported that claim but Palestinian and other Arab leaders attempted to portray the confrontation as a “peaceful demonstration” during which Israeli troops opened fire unprovoked, resulting in what they called “war crimes.” Most of the world media supported this. The Palestinians appear to be getting more desperate to assert their claims. Economic conditions in Gaza are bad as so much money is spent on terrorism. The protests will culminate on 14th May which Palestinians refer to as the “Nakba” (Catastrophe) when many Arabs were forced or chose to leave the Land.

Hamas does not see a Palestinian state in the West Bank and Gaza as the conclusion to the IsraeliPalestinian conflict. It remains dedicated to the destruction of the entire State of Israel and the best way of achieving that at present is flooding the Jewish state with millions of Palestinian “refugees.” One of the few points on which Hamas and Abbas’ Palestinian Authority agree is that as part of any “final status” peace agreement, Israel must agree to open its gates to these millions of new Arab inhabitants. It is a demand that no Israeli government, be it right- or left-wing, can ever accept, and the Palestinians know that.

PM Netanyahu In March there was a possibility that his government was in danger of being brought down by some of the religious coalition parties, over the issue of young religious orthodox men doing their mandatory military service. He is now age 68 and is under great pressure from many sides.
